IP Commercial Counsel


Job Description:


This is an excellent opportunity for an IP / Commercial lawyer to join a global company where IP is at the heart of the business.

You will be acting as a Legal Advisor within the business, providing high quality legal advice on IP and commercial matters – this role will be split 50/50 between both areas.


  • Supporting Head of IP / and commercial Regional Lawyers to provide legal and IP services to the business in all regions
  • With support from the Head of IP, running Contentious IP matters e.g. litigation on lookalikes & counterfeits and non-contentious IP matters such as custom recordals
  • Reviewing new product designs and potential trade marks each season to ensure no infringement
  • Researching points of law in different jurisdictions and advising on practical application
  • Advising on collaborations and drafting collaboration agreements
  • Leading on drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements – supply agreements, customer agreements, general T&Cs, NDA’s, distribution and franchise agreements
  • Within the framework of the Group function, providing practical advice and solutions on existing and proposed business and commercial issues and transactions
  • Working with external legal services to ensure that high quality, cost effective legal capability is delivered
  • Keeping abreast of legal developments impacting the business

To be our IP Commercial Counsel you will also possess these qualities:


  • An IP lawyer (between 2 – 8 years PQE) with commercial experience, ideally within a global business
  • A solid IP and commercial background. A proven track record in providing accurate and effective legal counsel, and experience handling wide ranging business and commercial matters
  • Ability to work at pace and manage and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to appropriately challenge and voice alternative perspectives
  • Roll up your sleeves, can do attitude and a team player with great communication skills
  • The ability to take initiative and self-manage within the context of a strong collaborative team
